Pump wont switch off.

hello we I have a manual shower everything works fine but its as if the off switch is broken on the. it knob used to have a springy feeling to it when moving the off position but now that is gone and the shower and pump just continue to run.

 There is a set of gears that controls the movementbetween the knobs and the potentiometer.

Switch thepower off and remove the cover then make sure that the gears haven’t jumped andare still in place if they are OK then check to see if anything has broken orif the teeth on the cogs are worn
