Replace or Repair

Is the Mira T Power Shower an easy replacement for Mira Extreme? Alternatively - Mira Extreme water flow reduced and pump seems to be turning slowly. Is it likely to require new pump or could it be carbon brushes? Any help much appreciated and thanks.

The showers on the right hand side of the page below are the easiest change over.

Regarding your existing shower it is difficult to say what the problems without seeing/hearing it.

It is unlikely to be brushes if the motor sounds like it is struggling to turn it could be the shaft seal or bearings that are tightening, switch of the power and try turning the motor carefully with a screwdriver if there is a lot of resistance then it is the motor that is faulty.

If it turns relatively easily it may be the PCB that is at fault.

Hi, Many thanks for getting back to me. Just tried as you suggested and motor turns pretty easily with screwdriver. I tried switching shower on again, and motor seems slow / noisy -with only highest flow level giving any reasonable pressure .

Do you think it might be worth trying replacement brushes? Alternatively - Is there any way I could check whether its definitely the motor or the PCB? If I replaced one - and it still didn't resolve -so that I had to place both parts then then from a cost viewpoint I might be as well to go for a new shower.

Your advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks again.

You can take the existing brushes out any less than about 10mm then it may be worth replacing them.

The other no cost option is to check the inlet filters if these are partially blocked it can reduce the performance and make the motor noisy

I tend to agree that if you can't pinpoint the fault then it may be best just to change the shower because without being there to check it is just possible that it could alsom be the cover PCB and the parts are expensive.

Sorry George, One final question.....Can brushes be checked/removed without taking out the motor? Is pump/motor removal relatively straightforward? Cheers.

Check that the filters are not blocked , as well as the head and hose. If these are fine , you may have a faulty motor, low brushes are unlikely to cause the motor to slow down unless they are sticking to the top.
