Pressure relief valve

I have water coming out of the pressure relief valve, and dripping out of the shower housing. Does this mean its doing its job and my water pressure is too high or has it broken?

It has actually done its job by actuating and protecting the shower from a surge of high pressure and now needs replacing, it can be ordered online by clicking on the link below.
