Anti-rotation key?

Hi. I have just asked about a replacement for this shower in a previous question a moment again, but when I investigated further, the red anti-rotation key was broken. Is this all that I need to fix our problem? ... which was, when we turned the knob nothing happened, but my husband tried it a couple of weeks later, he managed to turn the shower on, but he couldn't turn it off again! Many thanks.

This indeed could be the problem and I would change it to be sure,
