Shower cuts out in cold weather, please help

Hi I've got an old Newteam 8.5 which has gradual developed a fault, it works 90% of the time but when it's really cold in the winter it doesn't seem to be able to regulate temperature well and takes up to 10 minutes to work properly. When you turn it on The water gets really hot, then it cuts out and then stops for a few minutes but it eventually gets up to working fine. So not sure if it needs a new shower or a new thermostat!

Given the age and that it will soon be mid winter , anew shower would be the best option.
