Further to my query on 1st December & your reply on 3rd please could you advise if it is possible to repair the non-return valve in the elbow or if it needs to be replaced, is this possible without removing the recessed valve?

It is not possible to repair this type of non return valve your only option is to replace it and depending on the way the shower is fitted it is likely that you will have to remove it to replace the NR valves
