Valve Leak

I have a New Team 968 which leaks. I purchased the sirrus seal kit and replaced with the help of your video (which is brilliant) all the O rings and the e-clip however when I come to replace the circlip where the control spindle emerges from the housing I can't get the clip on. The reason being the groove to hold it does not come through far enough. I think this has caused the problem previously and it has always had a slow leak from this point. Is there anything I can do or I am missing with regards to the valve coming through the housing far enough to attach the ciclip? If I buy another valve at £136 I expect I will have the same problem, in that it doesn't protrude far enough to attach the circlip in the groove? I suppose a further question to this is - Is the housing (part 6 on the technical diag) a standard size that would allow me to fit another manufacturers valve unit and knob set?

This should come through enough to allow the clip to fit the design has never changed.

There were two problems with this in the past if the valve started to seize up then forcing it to turn could force it past the clip.

However if you have one of the older valves when servicing it you may have to push the spindle through with one of your thumbs from the inside.

What happens is when it is greased and pushed in to place a pocket of air forms at the end of the spindle and because of the grease there is no place for the air to escape, by pushing it up you should be able to compress the air enough to get the clip on, when the valve is used this soon sorts its self out.

The later models have a tiny hole bored in the top of the cartridge to allow the air to escape.
