can a replacement cover be sourced i.e. part number 1 or would another redring cover from a different model do?

If the part required is not listed in the spares diagram, then unfortunately this cannot be soured from the manufacturer. Suitable replacements showers, can be found to the right of the spares page in this link provided - www.showerdoc.com/plus-8s-shower-1992-1995-shower-spares
