manual reset

our powerstream wasn't heating and the indicator light was not illuminated. I reset the manual reset (Item 6 on the diagram) and now have hot water.

However, what would cause the manual reset to trip?

Normally because something has over heated which could be caused by a blocked shower head or a kinked hose.
