over heating

hi thanks for your site my redring 8.5 expression 500s is over heating even after I changed the cut out unit at top of valve as per your video I'm thinking it's faulty elements or micro switch ??

The things to check first are:

1 That the main valve coming into your house is fully open.

2 Then check that the valve on the line to the shower is fully open.

Make sure that the shower head is clean and clear, that the hose isn’t kinked (this can happen just behind the hand set where it is difficult to see) also check the inside of the hose although it can look OK on the outside it could have collapsed internally

The other possibility is a faulty flow/stabilizer valve not allowing the correct amount of water into the shower.

There is a link below that explains the above.

hi thank you for you reply
the shower I am having the problem with is a redring 8.5 500s it's about 4 yrs old I took it off and as it's holiday time here in NI the main electrical suppliers were closed for a few days (I'm an electronic engineer by trade )so I replaced it with a red ring vital dl 8.5 out of argos as it was not exactly the same had to modify few things but I am finding that this is more powerful than the 500s which was quite expensive hence why I went for the cheap model from argos but as I say it is much more powerful than the 500s unit I would like to try and fix the 500s unit and refit it what are your thoughts selinod valve ?? what would be the cost if I sent the shower to you for repair ?? thanks Gérard

As mentioned before if it is not the water pressure then it is likely to be the flow valve.

It is not a particularity expensive shower I think the cost of postage and the repair would make it uneconomical to send it for repair.
