Expression 500s shower

When I turn on the shower, there is a pumping sound for a few seconds and then the shower comes on correctly. What causes the pumping/thumping problem?

This is one of these problems that I would really have tosee / hear to be sure.

However.

 

It could be a micro switch that is stuck on and you arehearing the water heating up before there is any flow through the shower, ifthis is the case then you should have it looked at fairly soon because it mayactivate the Thermal Cut Out  and couldultimately burn out an element.
