Noisy shower motor / pump

My son's shower has become very noisy, although appears to still be working correctly. With the cover off, it is very loud. The motor brushes are clean and the contact also. We live with very hard water and I have been wondering about a build-up of limescale in the mini-tank. The noise is much like a tired bearing - slightly grating, and varies a little with changes to the temperature control (but that might just be flow related?)

Your description of a tired bearing is probably pretty accurate about all you can d is replace the motor and pump unit

However you may get a little more life out of it by squirting a little WD40 into where the bearings are be careful not to over do the WD 40

Hi,

Thank you for your response to my enquiry, both now some time ago. I am being badgered to make progress, and am sad to say that your suggestion of a little WD40 onto the bearings made absolutely no difference. Given our very hard water, I want to remove the heating tank and check it for limescale deposit. I suspect that if there is heavy limescale, the pump will be having to work harder (and therefore make more noise). Can you provide me with some guidance on how to remove the heating cylinder, or better still, a video please? Attached is a photo for reference.
Kind regards
David

I am afraid that I can't be much help there we have no video.

Removing the tank clips is probably the most difficult part of the job, below is how I described it to someone else some time ago.

As you look along the clip at the side of the heating tank you will see two small bits of plastic sticking out from the side of the clip, you need to get a screwdriver between them and twist to push them apart this will release the end of the clip.
