Burning Smell and Cold Water Leak

My shower cut out earlier in the year. I replaced the solenoid and the PRV and that fixed it. However, a cold water leak has returned, coming out of where the shower head attaches to the main shower casing. A burning componenty type smell now comes and goes from the shower. What could be causing this and how I can fix it?

If the leak is where the hose attaches then it will onlyneed a tighten or a new washer fitted.

The burning smell is a little more important.

Switch of the power remove the front cover and have a lookfor anything that appears to be overheating.
