Steam only after switch off

When I switch the shower off the water stops but the unit makes a boiling sound then steam pours out the shower head

You have a switch or relay stuck in the on position which is keeping one of the elements energised when the shower is switched off.

Until you trace where the fault is, make sure that you switch the shower off at the isolating switch immediately you stop using it.
