Distance from top of shower head to underside of cold water tank in loft

I have a query regarding shower valves and pumps that I hope you can help me with.

I have a conventional gravity feed hot and cold water system in my bathroom. After 20 years of excellent service my built in thermostatic mixer shower valve will no longer allow me to adjust the temperature. I am therefore replacing it with a much more accessible thermostatic mixer bar shower valve on the outside of the tiles behind which the hot and cold feeds will run. I am also planning to replace the existing old twin impeller pump with a new one and understand yours are top quality.

However when I read through the Bristan installation manual for their Artisan shower it shows a gravity fed system diagram like mine but with a requirement for a minimum of 1 Metre between the shower head and the underside of the cold water tank in the loft above, (head?). I only have about 650mm so I rang Bristan to check if the 1 Metre head? shown in their diagrams for both, a totally gravity fed system and one boosted by a twin impeller pump was necessary. It is my belief that the pump boosts the flow of the water through the shower compensating for the pressure a cold tank placed higher in the loft would otherwise provide.

They could not really answer the question but said that 1 Metre is their recommendation but that I should contact the pump supplier for a definitive view, hence my note to you today.

As my current layout fed through a 1.5 Bar twin impeller pump has worked well for years I expected to just replace shower and pump but I am now nervous about spending circa £350 on a new shower and pump which may not work. Are you able to help?

The above is a good replacement shower.

As far a s the pump is concerned I would contact Salamanders Pump Wise and give them your layout , as they have a computer program designed to find the right type of pump.
