HomeBoost® monitors and reacts to flow, rather than pressure. The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations (1999) govern flow asopposed to pressure and state you can’t pump more than 12l/min off themains. If the outlet is open, the pressure will be virtually nil and theflow will remain at 12l/min. As the outlet is restricted, the pressurewill increase to the point where the outlet cannot physically letthrough 12 litres of water in one minute. At this point the maximumpressure will be reached which will be approximately 1.6 bar BUT this isentirely dependent on the outlet. If the shower head, for example, is ahuge waterfall type, the pressure will never increase but flow will haveimproved to 12l/min.
