Motor noise changed and reduced flow

Our Showerforce 1500-XT has recently started having problems - it started with the noise the pump's motor makes being slightly different, but has developed such that after the shower has been running for perhaps five minutes that the noise changes noticeably and the flow rate decreases. Apparently (only my other half has tested this!) if you leave it longer then the flow rate all but stops completely. I opened the unit up and noticed there was a lot of black powder in there (from motor bushings?) but I have no idea if that is a related symptom or not! Any idea what might be wrong and what to do to diagnose further? What would be the most economical fix at this stage? Obviously the shower is now quite long in the tooth (it was here when we bought 12 years back, though was probably newish then) so perhaps it is time to replace it wholesale. TIA, Anthony

Noise such as this is usually due to lack of water or a faulty pump.
