Cold water passing thru

The cold water is passing through the shower and pushing water up the hot pipe the wrong way as a result the header tank in the loft is over flowing

You may have a faulty non return valve in the hot elbow. If this is tghe case then you can swap the elbows around to see if this works or replace them.
