Removal of unit for service/repair

Hi, I have one of these units that has stopped working. The rotating knob got very stiff and the temperature control/thermostat sometimes failed. I'm currently trying to remove it for service but am having problems. It is recessed behind the metal plate that fits flush to the wall. The problem is I can't seem to remove the rotating knob. I have removed the cap and recessed screw from the knob but I can't seem to pull the knob off (the image attached shows what I mean). I need to do this to remove the plate and get access to remove the whole unit. Any advice? many thanks, Phil.

Try WD 40 and tapping the handle to loosen it.

Hi, I tried that but it won't come free. However, I eventually managed to get the whole assembly out with the front plate still attached (my hands are still bleeding!). See attached photos. Can I send the unit back to you for a service? I believe the actually valve unit is fairly standard (Gummers 1500?) and can be replaced? Please let me know. Cheers, Phil.

You could send the item in to us, but unless we can separate the parts we will be unable to fix the shower.
