on/off control turns too far

the on/off control turns round and does not stop. The water continues to drip.

The most likely fault is the plastic splines on the back ofthe knob have worn away and they just spinning on the spindle, if this is thecase then you are going to need a new knob set and a service kit for the valve Theknobs are different depending on whether they are for a exposed or concealedvalve

If the knob is turning the spindle OK and it is the spindlethat is continually turning then you are probably going to need a newcartridge.
