shower affects hot water temperature

hi

recently the hot water in our bath(which is before

the shower on the hot water pipe) never seems to

get hot anymore.but if you turn the shower on

the water temp is boiling hot.

a plumber checked it out and said the cold pipe was

back feeding through the shower cold so suggested

fitting a non return valve on the hot feed to the shower just after it leaves the shower!

i cant do this now as i've just completetly tilled the bathroom and get get to the pipe.i dont think the shower is working correctly anyways.

so what parts would i need to buy to remidy the problem?

regards

Your plumber could be right however if it worked OK before thenI would be tempted to look at the boiler you may have a flow rate problem

If the flow rate through the boiler is too high when youturn on the bath taps then the water passes through the boiler to quickly anddoesn’t have time to pick up any heat, when the shower is on it uses less watertherefore the water passes through the boiler more slowly allowing it to heatup
