Swapped over hot and cold inputs

My dad's shower was over the bath and worked fine but the hot and cold inputs were the wrong way round. He fitted it himself years ago but can't remember if he did anything to compensate for the wrong inputs (but I presume that he must have).

Now he has moved the shower to a separate shower cubicle and the plumber fitted it with the hot and cold the correct way around (hot on the left, cold on the right) and the shower doesn't work correctly.

So the question is, can we turn the unit upside-down, swap the output and what looks like a blanking plug over, and sort out the "hot/cold" labelling, to make it work correctly? I think his is the simpler shower version that doesn't have the separate adjustment for temperature.

As long as the inlets are correct the shower should work fine. You do not say what the fault is. We would also need to know which shower you have, a picture would help.
