Sirrus 1500 antique

I've had this shower a while, it has always been perfect and has been easy to service and on one occasion change the cartridge. I have a problem with temperature and want to clean the cartridge but cannot remove the lever from the spindle - the instructions say it just pulls off but it won't budge off the splines. I've tride a drop of wd40 to no effect, and also a drop of vinegar in case it is stuck by limescale, also no effect. Hope you can help, thanks Barry

Yes these sometimes can be a problem

First try a few kettles of boiling hot water over the handle this may expand it just enough to release it from the spindle, if that doesn’t work you can try a hot air gun or a gas torch however you need to take care not to damage the crome.
