assembley centre screw

I have just ordered a new sk-1600-2 assembley and had it fitted by a plumber. When the centre screw (holding the plastic control cap in place) water comes out from the opening - is this right? should this be happening? The old assembley was exactly the same.

Another question - there was some sort of push rod within the old assembley - the new one wasn't provided with one therefore the plumber had to use the old one - could this have anything to do with water coming out of the opening when the centre screw is removed?

Yes!

Some water will come out when you remove the bolt, this is OK.

It is removed to adjust the temperature.

Clockwise for cooler and anticlockwise for hotter.

If by push rod you mean this,

then the new cartridge does not come with one.
