Leaking New 1850 Cartridge

I have purchased a new cartridge & thermostat as well as the maintenance kit for our 1850 from your site. I have managed to removed the hex nut and replace the O rings in the valve body. I greased all O rings but omitted the spindle assembly assuming this was pre-fitted/done. After refit the valve appears to be leaking from the centre spindle or body. Is this normal or do I need to remove again and silicon grease the new O rings inside the spindle? Will this cure the leak do you think? or have I omitted an O ring on a new cartridge that was pre-fitted?!!! Advice appreciated :(
