Running hot & dripping

My Sirrus valve is gravity fed and running hot. The thermostat control seems loose from being stiff. The valve also forms a drip under the main on/off ring after turning off. Before I spend lots of dough on a new valve potentially unecessarily can you advise if this needs just a maintenance kit or does the thermostat/piston etc need replaced? Advice appreciated.

With the Sirrus 1800 series that in almost every occasion thefirst thing to do is give them a strip down clean and lube and fit a servicekit, this will cure 85% of any problems and it is also the cheapest thing todo.

If after servicing you find out that it needs a thermostat or piston, nothing is really lost because it almost certainly needed a service in anycase.
