sirrus 1850 stiff temperature control

temperature control knob gets very stiff as I try and turn the temperature towards cold. Does this require a new cartridge or a replacement of the o rings? What is causing the stiffness?

With the Sirrus 1500 or 1800 series valves if there anyproblems the first thing to do is give them a strip down clean and lube and fita service kit, this will cure 85% of any problems with these valves and it isalso the cheapest thing to do!

See video at foot of page

If the valve is becoming tight or sticky it has probablyjust lost some of its internal grease.

If after servicing you find out that it needs a newthermostat and piston assembly nothing is really lost because it almostcertainly needed a service in any case.
