showerforce victorian-t thermostatic mixer shower

Hi, please can you identify my shower fault. I have a showerforce victorian t thermostatic mixer shower, the shower will run for say 3 weeks fine, then some days it will not produce hot water, if I run the mixer tap on the nearby bathroom sink it eventually runs hot. It is supplied by a combi boiler which I have had checked and it is running fine to all other outlets. The shower has had about 2 years usage but has never been serviced. Question being, do I need to replace the cartridge, the thermostat and the cartridge or just service the cartridge to solve this intermittent problem? thank you.

This sounds more like a boiler problem rather than a shower problem, there is nothing in the shower that could cause that type of intermittent fault especially as it is only two years old.

This may not be easy to do but it is about the only way you will be able to trace the fault.

The next time the shower goes cold see if you can get hold of the hot supply pipe before it enters the shower or perhaps as it leaves the boiler.

If when holding this pipe the temperature fluctuates or goes cool then the problem is not with the shower but more likely with the boiler as the shower can only deliver what the boiler sends to it.      #

Disregard the temperature at the taps as they have a different flow rate.

If the temperature of the hot water entering the shower is hot and the shower is only producing cold/cool water then the fault will be with the shower and considering the age of the shower a service should solve any problems.
