The ‘O’ ring seal in the 1500 series washer plate, when you remove the old seal it will look like it has square edges  the new ‘O’ ring is the correct part, the old ‘O’ ring just takes the shape because it has been in there so long.

The ‘O’ ring in the face of the housing is the one that switches the water on and off.

The ‘O’ ring that controls the on/off can be difficult to fit.

Once you have the old ‘O’ ring out make sure that the recess is completely clean, then give the new ‘O’ ring a light smear with silicon grease and start to press it into the recess on the washer plate, making sure that it tucks into the recess under the edges once you have most of the ‘O’ ring in place you will probably have a small knot that not drop back into place.

Hold the washer plate under the hot water tap for a moment or two until the ‘O’ ring warms up and becomes a little softer, then by pressing hard and rocking the handle of a screwdriver back and forward over the knot it will eventually squeeze into place.
