Sirrus 1600 shower temp problem

Our shower stays cold when turned on. However, if you quickly turn the control to the highest temp, it will turn hot and then you can turn the control back to the temp you require. Sometimes you need to try this more than once to make the shower go hot. What could be the problem?

Many thanks...

It sounds like it is sticking inside, probably a strip downclean, lube and fitting a service kit should solve the problem.
