SIRRUS TS503 thermostatic valves
The hole may be for access to a cartridge , as shown above.
If you can send some pictures of the set up it may help us identify what you need.

The screw is down the centre of the hole.
If this does not change the temperature then you may have a faulty thermostatic wax cartridge.
