First and foremost the service and help from Shower Doctor could not have been better as far as I'm concerned. If you are doing what's in the heading above turn off hot and cold feeds to the shower. Remove the two control handles along with the two handle extension pieces which are just a push fit through the faceplate. Don't remove the faceplate. To remove the thermostatic cartridge you must unscrew a brass threaded collar. If necessary you can start to loosen it using a centre punch and hammer if you have no tool to fit the flats. Pull out the old and put in the new cartridge. Screw back the retaining collar, refit the handles, job done. On reassembly the water temperature was exactly 38C at the index setting.
