Faulty shower valve

My client has noticed that her Trevi Kurve shower no longer adjusts the water temperature in a reliable way but it is not clear if the cartridge is at fault.

There are three symptoms:

1) If you slightly move the temperature control knob the water briefly runs very hot before settling down to the new temperature.

2) The temperature control very sensitive; the slightest movement changes the temperature a lot.

3) Sometimes there is a 'whistling' sound (like a boiling kettle) which ceases if you move the temperature control .

Are these symptoms of a failed cartridge?

Thanks for your help.
