Trevi traditional shutting down

There is a problem with this shower. When it is initially turned on, hot water comes out of the shower head, then a few seconds later the water stops flowing altogether. Then we wait for a minute or so and try again. Same thing. Hot water, then nothing. Could it be that somehow the cold water is not getting through and the thermostat shuts off the hot water supply because it thinks it's too hot? Just my idea (which may be rubbish). Can you help identify the problem/suggest a part? Many thanks.

First check that the filters on the temperature cartridge are clean and clear, then check that the hose hasn’t collapsed internally (When the shower shuts down remove the hose if water starts gushing out of the outlet then you have a faulty hose).

Your idea could be correct  if the pipe work was reversed, as you stand in the shower and look at the valve the pipe work should be hot to the left and cold to the right.

If all of these are OK then you probably need a new cartridge
