Electric shock

I have a Triton "Rapide" power shower which doesn't match any model listed here, but looks identical to this 'All-in-One' (temperature control inside of the on-off/flow dial). I received a shock from the metal showerhose, which measures ~120VAC to the earthed inlet pipes, only when the motor clicks on. I suspect it is due to moisture/leakage and the heavy carbon deposits seen inside the casing. What baffles me is that the outlet gland on this shower is insulated plastic with no earth bond, surely the design is dangerously unsafe? Are you aware if there have been any product recalls? Do recent models have a metal outlet gland to ensure the hose is safely earthed?

It sounds like the motor /pump is the source of this problem, but if you are getting any sort of electrical contact out with the shower you should stop using it immediately and have the wiring checked by a suitable person before using it again.
