Lots of limescale - Can Assembly at fault?

Hi, We have this shower in our bathroom and recently it's started to "play up". For a while it's been producing an awful amount of scale and black debris (almost like grit) in the shower pipe - as this is isn't present from running other taps / water faucets from the same pipe it leads me to believe it must be the heating element in the can? Is this susceptible to scale and build up? It's got to the point now that even with daily "scrubbings" of the shower head there's virtually no water coming out and when you run it without the shower head (i.e. hose straight into the shower tray) there is an instant pile of "grit". Would a replacement can help this at all? It's also now affecting the pressure which is constantly low and very very hot.

Thanks,

Al.

Yesa new can will probably help.

Thisshower is a fairly cheap unit and can therefore build up lime scale the betterunits have a cold water flush when you shut down and this prevents lime scalebuild up
