Replacing old solenoid valve assembly

the existing solenoid valve assembly has 3 spades which accepts 2 brown wires from the shower and 1 black wire. the new solenoid valve assembly has only 2 spades, so how do I make the connection, only way out that I see is to splice the 2 brown wires in the shower and then connect to one of the spades and the black to the other. Is this correct?

You will find that one of the connectors is a piggy back type like these in the link below
