Temperature valve dial stuck

Hi, we've noticed that over the past few months we've had to keep increasing the temp on dial and is now between 8-9 for comfortable heat. Anything below is freezing cold. The dial itself won't turn much past 6-7 at best. I've checked the filters and they were clean. The motor had thrown a bit of black deposit on the inside of the case but apart from that all seemed ok when I just inspected it. The shower gets used daily and is about 2 years old. Any ideas?

The black deposit is just carbon from the motor and pump assembly and is normal.

At two years old my first thought would have been the filters but as you have checked them it sounds like the thermostatic mixing valve but..... these are usually fairly reliable and I can’t think of one needing replaced at two years but.... you say it is stiff so there again 0it is pointing to that as the fault, the link to a new valve is below.

However the cost of a new unit isn’t that much more!
