Triton Aquasensation 2000T shower failure

The above unit in our house has failed. The motor seems to be working (or least is trying to to) as it "revs" to try to get water through. However the water first rises and falls in time with the revs before slowing to a trickle (revving still going on in the background).

I opened the casing and found a considerable amount of "soot" inside. The unit is over 10 years old and so has done well - I'm thinking it might be time to get a new unit?

I note that the AS2000XT is the recommended replacement with the same footprint and the internal layout looks to be exactly the same as that for the AS2000T, however the smaller, flow dial seems to be in a different place - does this matter or is it simply attached differently inside?

Many thanks

As the motor/pump assy for the 2000T is now obsolete and as it sounds like yours has failed so a new shower is required.
The AS2000XT is adirect replacement and size and position of knobs has no effect on fitting, it can be ordered online by clicking on the link below.
