Pressure relief device

Hi whenever shower is on, water is flushing out of the PRD regardless of whether hose is on or not. No blockage in the outlet pipe. Can i assume that the prd is not just an open pipe? Is there supposed to be some kind of spring assembly internally?

I think the pressure relief device has blown.

It’s a safety device on the bottom of the heating tank.

It is fairly easy to replace however there is usually something that causes it to blow,

often a kink in the hose or the showerhead is blocked, so check this before fitting the new PRD.
