Blackened Wire

Hello

I have a Triton Jade shower and recently it was noticed after say 5 minuites of use smoke would start to come from the casing along with a rotten smell, I have removed the front casing to have a look and the blue neutral wirs that go into the top of the heater, located at the very top left inside the shower appear to be severely blackened and melted (see pic)

Have you seen this before? Any advise on what I need to replace?

Thanks in advance

Yes this is not a regular fault however it is not entirely uncommon,it is normally caused by the terminals in the block not being fully tightened.

Unfortunately the complete wiring loom is no longeravailable for this unit.

However you need to fit a new terminal block  http://www.showerdoc.com/triton-terminal-block-22009230  then cut back the wires until they are goodand fit them to the new terminal block, if they are too short then you willhave to extend them.

You should be able to get the bits you require from Maplins Take yourPhoto and make sure they give you heat resistant cable.

Just noticed as I was closing the photo the Spade terminal at the bottom right doesn't appear to be on correctly
