STEAM AT SHOWER HEAD
It sounds like one of the relays on the PCB has stuck in the open position and the shower kept heating after you turned it off.
There is a safety device (TCO) that would then cut off the power to the elements.
So you would need to replace the TCO then after that investigate what caused it to overheat (Most likely a sticking relay)
