Leaking shower

A couple of months ago you sent me the spare parts list and by phone kindly advised that before replacing the valve I could try taking it out and descaling. I got as far as trying to remove the cover over the retaining screw on the handle but only succeeded in pushing the cover down inside over the nut. Happy to buy whatever is needed but do I try to lever off the handle and replace everything? Grateful for any help John

You will need the handle removed in order to replace the parts below.

Will I do irreparable damage if I lever it off as the screw head is covered and can’t be undone

Unless the handles are removed , then nothing more can be done.
