For the second time in a year, I have had to replace the solenoid coil and PRD (ordered from Showerdoctor via Amazon) in my Triton T80si when the shower completely stopped working. Within a couple of days water has again started dripping from the bottom of the shower unit as soon as the shower is turned on, although it usually stops as the shower warms up. Other factors come into play: If the shower upstairs is being used at the same time the leaking is worse (although that shower is fed from the roof water tank, while the Triton shower is connected directly to the mains, via the stopcock in the shower room). If I reduce the mains flow directly to the shower, the leaking gets worse. I cleaned the showerhead before refitting the solenoid and PRD, and the hose doesn't seem kinked (but how does one tell?). Should I replace the showerhead and hose anyway? Or add an extra black ball into the PRD? Or decrease the water pressure slightly? And why isn't the leaking continuous?

You should change the hose and the head to be on the safe side when changing the prd.

But if the PRD is leaking because the hose is kinked or the showerhead partially blocked, why doesn't it leak continuously? It always stops altogether after 15 or 20 seconds.

A faulty prd is usually caused by a blocked hose or head and we always recommend changing them, which works in our experience.

I have replaced the showerhead and hose, and also added another black ball to the PRD (it now has 2) but water started pouring from the bottom of the unit during the commissioning procedure. The water is NOT coming from the PRD outlet, but to the right of it. And when I removed the unit cover, to access the PRD, I noticed that there were drips of water on some of the parts and wires below and around what I think is the stabiliser valve. Is it possible that it is this valve which has been leaking all along, and not the PRD at all? Is there any other part which can leak? And have I got to the point where it would be better to replace the shower? So far I have got bought two solenoids, two PRDs, a shower hose and a showerhead, and the leaking is just getting worse.

The stabiliser valves are known to leak from the washer at the top , so this could be the cause of the problem.
