Why is it necessary to replace PRD?

My Triton Enrich showerhead was clogged up with limescale, so there was water coming out of the PRD. Now that I have cleaned and descaled the showerhead, why is it necessary to also replace the PRD?

The prd helps keep the pressure i n the heating can correct and so keeps the shower working as it should.

Thanks. I understand what the PRD does, but why does it need to be replaced after water comes out of it? That was my original question.

There is a ball inside the prd which gets blown out or displaced when the head or hose is blocked. If this happens then , as you would know, the prd is now damaged and the pressure may be lost from the can .
