suspected blown prd

i suspect my prd has blown but am not sure of the cause as it has been working fine for 12 months---- what does concern me before i go to the cost of buying a new one is that i believe a lot of fine grit and maybe silver metalic bits have been blown out of the system-- is this normal or could it be down to limescale? and do you think i should try a new part -- i have only had the shower unit 12 months

It’sa safety device on the bottom of the heating tank.

Itis fairly easy to replace however there is usually something that causes it toblow, oftena kink in the hose or the showerhead is blocked, so check this before fittingthe new PRD.

"a lot of fine grit and maybe silver metalic bits have been blown out of the system" is not normal and should be checked.
