flaking surface on rail

I have a triton 80xr shower which is just over a year old. I have noticed that the surface of the rail holding the shower head is peeling and flaking all the way up and down from the top to bottom. This cannot be due to the head sliding up and down because we do not move it, it stays at the top and also you cannot move the head to the very top or bottom because of soap dish and brackets. Have you heard of this happening before? I have only cleaned it with a cloth and water, I havent even sprayed any cleaners on it. It can't be due to water as it is a shower!!!!!

I've got the same problem with my T80xr riser rail. From reading Internet forums it sounds like a common problem. Does anyone know of a stainless steel equivalent that won't peel like this? I'm a bit surprised that Triton have produced such a poor product - it should be built to cope with everyday use in a bathroom!
