Just want to make sure it is the solenoid thats the problem.

When turning of the shower with the on/off switch, the heat stops but the shower still runs, only stops when i turn off the mains switch. Is it the solenoid, or is it something else.

If when you switch off the shower at the main isolator and the shower keeps running then you have a faulty solenoid.

When you switch off the shower at the main isolator  and the water stops  running, then you have a faulty on/off switch or a faulty PCB or a micro switch that is sticking on.

Sorry I can’t be more specific but you don’t mention which model of Triton you have

Almost certainly the power PCB that is faulty!
