Triton T300si Low flow rate

Hi, my triton T300si has a low flow rate when at a warm temperature. It does get faster at lower temperatures but when turned up to 8/10 for a hot shower the flow rate is just 4 litre per minute. It has a 9.5kw heater and I have checked the voltage across both elements and that looks fine. Any ideas what the problem could be?

It may be that one of the elements has failed however a 9.5 shower at 240v and 4lts per min should give you a temperature RISE of 35 degrees.

When you are checking the voltage check that you are getting 230 / 240 volts

Hi thanks for the reply.

When switched on the voltage drops to 229v but I guess thats ok.

If the water temp in winter is 5 degrees then that would make it 40 degrees at 4l per min which would be what I'm getting. For me 4l per min is a very disappointing shower, really I would like 8 litres so I would need a 19 kw shower !

I've bought mixer taps instead.

Thanks Stephen

It may be a faulty element in the heating tank (there are two, three in most 10kw showers) you can check them with a multi meter you should have a reading of around 12>18 ohms.

If you have power to the elements and no heat it's probably the elements, no power to the elements then it's probably a micro switch.

If you don’t have a multimeter we sell them at £10 each with a guide on how to use them for checking and testing the various parts of your shower.

Apart from helping to fix your shower, they are really useful for checking you have a power supply to appliances, for checking fuses, letting you know much power you have left in batteries

(so you know if they are dud or not) and lots of other jobs, in short they are well worth the money.
