Water leaking from the shower head when off

You suggest that the problem may be the O ring on the slide valve. How do I access the O ring? I can remove the part 8 (temp control) and 9 (the split ring, plastic ring and lever with grub screw but the large flow control ring will not budge.

I am not sure that I am thinking about the same part as you however  if it is the flow control knob you are thinking of then you need to unscrew the lever there is a grub screw that holds the lever and knob in place.

If this is not the part you are thinking off can you send us a photo.
